Physical goods variants feature is now in Early Availability status

Physical goods variants make it easier for businesses to determine how many variations of an individual physical good are available. Each combination of option and values for a product is a variant for that product.

Key features

  • Variant definition and updates: Easily define and update options (for example - color, storage, connectivity) and their possible values for each product variant.
  • Pricing flexibility: Establish a common pricing plan with the ability to override prices for specific variants.
For example, if a product such as iPhones were available in five different core processors, four different screen sizes, and nine different colors then there would be a total of 180 variations of the same product. In this example, the core processors and the screen sizes would be the options and the 5-core and 6.7” the values. One specific variant from these lists of variants might be an A15 5-core GPU, 6.7” screen and silver color iPhone.
Previously, these variations would have required all the combinations to be individually entered into the system. In the above example this would have meant 180 individual entries.
Using the UI, these editions can then be updated to include other pricing and branding details.

Current limitations

  • Products using variants are not yet eligible for syndication into the network catalog or sourcing from it.
  • Visibility control at the individual variant level is not available.
